Music

Women’s Music – music by, for, and about women (and a euphemism for Lesbian) – voiced and performed musical expressions of Lesbian life, love, and politics as well as feminist, labor, civil rights, and peace movements. As Lesbian musicians struggled to find recording opportunities they founded their own record labels such as Olivia, Redwood, Pleiades, and others. Festivals and other performance venues such as coffeehouses emerged. Lesbians gained skills in sound engineering, lightning, stage management and all areas of production.
