Since April of 2023, we’ve been very busy showcasing resources from the Wanderground Lesbian Archive/Library to communities around New England. In general, these events have been received with enthusiasm by those who attended. Older Lesbians experienced a walk down memory lane while younger viewers marveled at the broad array of Lesbian legacies and new information. Books and periodicals were on display as usual, but viewers were especially thrilled to see a nearly complete collection of “The Newsletter: A Lesbian Position” on display. This was a local newsletter in the New Haven area from 1982-1994. This exhibit also highlighted some new offerings.

These displays included books published by early Lesbian Presses, button display box, and other memorabilia. One table included a special collection of materials from Rhode Island.
Providence, RI – April 29, 2023
Host: Providence Public Library – Making LGBTQ History Special Event
During this collaborative event with the PPL LGBTQ+ Archive, participants used original, historic items as inspirations to make book bags, buttons, and key chains. We also featured a small display of the creative materials used for the art projects.

The showcase events were made possible by a mini-grant received from the Social Enterprise Greenhouse (SEG). Those funds provided specific support to purchase display cases, archival boxes, carts, and materials so that we can safely transport and attractively display selected materials from our collections.
