Mev Miller Receives Grant from Ella Lyman Cabot Trust Fund

Mev Miller, Instigator/Lesbrarian of Wanderground Lesbian Archive/Library has received grant funding from the Ella Lyman Cabot Trust Fund.

Over the next two years, with these grant funds, Mev will:

  • catalog and preserve her extensive collection (3,500+ items) of Lesbian publications, artifacts, and herstorical objects,
  • create storytelling and artistic expressions of selected objects, and
  • provide visibility through digital resources, education, and public events.

This work also includes taking practical steps to incorporate as a non-profit organization, engage community advisors, and search for suitable and accessible physical space to permanently house the collection.

The Ella Lyman Cabot Trust seeks to assist people who want to take their lives in a new, other-oriented direction. By identifying and funding promising projects, the Trust aims to have a meaningful impact on both the proponent of the project and on the project’s intended beneficiaries.

Imagine a large, open room that features walls of bookshelves filled with Lesbian publications and archived materials, and a gallery of artworks, artifacts, and audiovisual recordings. The central floor area allows flexibility with a stage area and moveable, comfortable chairs and worktables. The makerspace encourages creation of all types of artistic expressions. A variety of community events inspire dialogs. Bulletin boards crammed with flyers announce community events, services offered, and much more. Comfort, color, and creativity keep the space alive!

Curated by Mev Miller / Lesbrarian/Instigator

Welcome to the first physical public viewing of several of the holdings in the Wanderground Archive/Library. Mev Miller shares selections from her extensive library of Lesbian/feminist publications as well as media, art, and other culturally significant items – collected over the past 40 years. The materials make up the cornerstone of Wanderground, a Lesbian Archive/Library being developed as a community-based resource for New England. This exhibit especially highlights the early days of Lesbian-made culture and activism (1970-2000).

Be sure to pick up the information rich Curator’s Guide!
